Dev is a subspecialty trained ophthalmologist with extensive experience in managing general eye, cataract and retinal conditions.

Previous experience and passions

He graduated from medical school in 2000, and then went on to obtain both Malaysian and Australian specialist ophthalmology qualifications. He also undertook 12 months of advanced retinal training at the Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide in 2013. He has worked in both metro and regional Australia always striving to provide quality, patient centred eye care and has a passion for outreach work. He holds public appointments at the Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide and is a Visiting Medical Officer at Alice Springs Hospital, NT.

The importance of educating the next generation is another of Dev’s passions. During his career, he has been actively involved in training ophthalmology registrars and fellows in cataract and advanced retinal surgery. A firm believer in the efficiencies of teamwork and shared care, Dev has always been a strong proponent of education of allied healthcare personnel, optometrists and orthoptists. For his efforts, he was selected as a full committee member of the Ophthalmic Education Standing Committee of the Asia - Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), one of the umbrella international ophthalmic bodies with the goal of preventing blindness and promoting the science and art of ophthalmology among member nations of the Asia-Pacific region. He also is a lecturer at the School of Medicine, The University of Queensland (RCS) and the College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University.

He is married with 2 children and a dog and enjoys good coffee and classical music.
