Dr Tiger Zhou

Dr Tiger Zhou is a subspecialty trained ophthalmologist with extensive experience in managing general eye, cataract and medical retinal conditions.

Previous experience and passions

Dr Tiger Zhou is an Australian trained consultant ophthalmologist with an interest in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, glaucoma and medical retinal conditions including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. He is dedicated to providing empathetic, compassionate, comprehensive and tailored ophthalmic care for all his patients.

Tiger has a research interest in glaucoma having completed his PhD in molecular genetics of glaucoma at Flinders University in 2021. His research helped identify new genetic variants associated with primary open angle glaucoma and has provided insights into the underlying biological mechanisms of the disease.

Following obtaining his medical degree at Flinders University in 2011, Tiger started to pursue his interest in ophthalmology by undertaking a research clinician role in 2015. In that same year, he was awarded the Lions Medical Research Foundation scholarship and commenced a PhD under the guidance of Prof Jamie Craig. In 2018, Tiger began specialist ophthalmology training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, which he completed at the start of 2023.

Hobbies

Tiger enjoys building miniature plastic models, playing video games and learning about history, philosophy and natural sciences.
